I don't have any experience using the blood summons as SCs, I never really use blood magic. It depends a lot on what you're fighting and I don't know that as well as you do. If it has decent protection and you're mostly after the bonuses, rainbow armor wouldn't be a bad choice. It has both magic resistance and some reinvigoration, so it can be pretty useful.

Interesting, Atlantis was hitting my troops with Destruction, Acid Rain, some things designed to reduce their armor and perhaps make them more vulnerable to Atlantis' reletaviely weakely armored troops. Either that or it was just to deal with the heavy infantry mercs. Another incantation they are using is Falling Frost, I believe it is called. The Basalt Kings didn't look all that terrible. At least in comparison with the Jarls.
